The European Commission has launched a new tool to help disseminate best practice in public procurement at this year's 15th anniversary of the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels (9-12th October 2017).[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ObFWCAXr90&w=560&h=315]The tool, unveiled today at a special workshop, "Procurement for better results: sharing of good practices, features three separate public procurement projects from across the European Union:

  • Standardised tender documents - featuring the Luxembourg’s IT solution for generating tender documents automatically;
  • Skills and competency framework for professionals - focus on the Croatian training scheme; and,
  • Lifecycle costing tools – learning more from the Swedish experience and approach.

“Sharing of good practices in the area of public procurement is expected to yield a number of tangible benefits for those involved in the process (contracting authorities, economic operators): improved efficiency and effectiveness, better value for money and less administrative burden are only some of them” said a Commission spokesperson.The tool is part of the EC’s Action Plan on Public Procurement, which aims to raise standards in the period 2014-20.
