EC publishes Sardinian Airports State Aid decisions

On 18 October 2017, the Commission published its decision of 29 July 2016 on State Aid paid by various Sardinian airports to various airlines for public service obligations payments for the period 2010-13 in the Official Journal.The Commission decided that aid paid by two of the five airports (Cagliari-Elmas airport and Olbia) to airlines including Ryanair, easyJet, and Wizzair constituted unlawful state aid and that it must be recovered from the relevant airlines, with compounded interest.Commission Decision (EU) 2017/1861 of 29 July 2016 on State aid SA33983 (2013/C) (ex 2012/NN) (ex 2011/N) — Italy — Compensation to Sardinian airports for public service obligations (SGEI) (notified under document C(2016) 4862)
